I agree that it is not a newsworthy story for the death of an actress. WDRB had some of the same non newsworthy stories. I understand that at the end of the day these are businesses but they can try to create some way of making sure they don't have fluff while still keeping content interesting. They can also have separate shows and advertise them on their shows where you can hear about the fluff and celebrity news.

Devin's Blog Reaction
I agree to every point in this response. Radios grew at an alarming rate and were used for things I never even thought of. The market and selling of radios amazed me on how the department stores had their own channels and stations to try to sell products while also providing entertainment. The Radio isn't used very much now a days but the fact that people found so many uses and had so many ideas makes me wonder if I can find any use for things that I might not think of using.

Magazines
I personally do not enjoy magazines. Most of them do not provide anything of worthy news and they all are uninteresting. I do like photojournalism though, the quote "a pictures worth a thousand words" is true. Pictures put you into the scene and show you whats actually happening. A picture changed the complete outlook on the Syrian war. A small boy was washed up on shore dead and a picture was taken and that's what opened everyones eyes. Honestly I had no idea about the war until the up roar about this picture. Pictures are the difference between reading about Michael Jordan flying from the free through line and seeing thousands of people staring in amazement as he soared to the basket. Pictures are the real reason magazines have made such an important contribution to today's world.
Radios
Radios use to be the hit thing. They were everywhere and used much more for just music and a small comedy talk show. Today I don't even use the radio in the car because I can plug my phone into the car and choose what songs I want to play. The radio used to be what the internet is today. When people were bored they would flip on the radio and listen to music, plays, or talk shows. The radio allowed for the expansion of music with being able to play recorded music and allowing bands to be discovered. The radio was the mass medium that everyone used because it was cheap, live, and easy. It could be played in the background any where while you are doing anything.
Cameron's Journalism Blog Reaction
The internet may be hurting these companies but I believe it is a good thing that artists are able to go and record the music the way they would like to. The natural music by undiscovered artists are what I like a lot. Of course I also enjoy recorded and edited music but the natural sound is perfect when I am just relaxing at home. Also these companies bind and exploit artists for their own use. The companies don't allow certain things to be said and take much of their money when the artist and producer could benefit the most from their own work. It is shocking though to think how much the internet has changed my life but I really haven't lived a life without it so if must be much more of a shock for the generations above me that can really see the change and development of this mass medium.

The Simmons File Reaction
I highly agreed that it was amazing that people in early theaters were very unusual and out of today's ordinary. However I didn't agree that theaters are dying. Profits are declining but when ever I am at a theater it is usually full of people and they are selling lots of snacks and other items to people as they walk to their shows. The theater is very good for social events and just relaxing. The early theater was an amazement that people came to enjoy and experience but today it is something completely different.

TV's
Television is a great source of news and ideas but it has gotten out of hand. People watch more and more TV and have consumed their lives. TV influences a lot of todays society with famous people, commercials, even the government. The government is influenced through adds, the news, and even comedy shows that make a name drop of a political person. These are a little too much for me. A prime example is Donald Trump, most people just know about his ideas and mess ups about immigrations. This is not the real Donald Trump he has serious political views that some may not agree with but they are not what the media says and makes him out to be. TV seems to have too much of a hold on our lives and that isn't ok so some serious changes need to be made so that we see everything the way they really are and aren't biased.
movies
I highly agree that movies will not die out. I for one enjoy going to the movies with my friends and watching something brand new with my popcorn and a drink in the dark. Also I know plenty of people who's first choice on dates is the movies. The movies are a great place to get away from my house with some friends and relax. I know at home I can't sit through a movie without getting interrupted constantly. The movies provide a mostly quiet un interrupted way of watching movies. This is how movies manage to separate them selves from other mediums and provide a great entreating way to relax.
WDRB
WDRB in my opinion is not very good. The main job of the news is to report on the powerful and make the important interesting and they fail to do this. They report fluff stories and stories that don't effect a lot of people. They had stories about pets and other things people don't care about. One thing I thought they were good about is reporting on local business. They talked about Louisville business and their changes everyday it seemed like. This was one of a very little amount of things done right. They also dragged stories out like the U of L sex scandal. WDRB is not the best choice for news unless you like to hear about accidents and business.

Peer Response The Simmons File
http://simmonsfile.blogspot.com/2015/09/response-iv-plagiarism.html
Coming from the same middle school as Thomas I knew the same amount of information about plagiarism as he did. It also came as a shock to me that just agreeing with an idea and a teacher thinking you stole it is a federal offense. It scared me to think that if I accidentally wrote an idea someone else published that it might be mistaken for plagiarism and I may be punished. But overall the ideas that Thomas had I completely agree with and he worded them perfectly to have me know what he meant and know that I agree.

"Effect on Magazines" Luke Hoskins (Peer response)
http://lhdailyco.blogspot.com/2015/09/effect-on-magazines.html
I highly agree on this post. Photojournalism is a great innovation that has changed the way we receive information. They give us information in a fast effective way while still interesting us. I liked how Luke connected this to magazines and said how they are used and implemented perfectly.

Kim Davis Embarrassing the people of Kentucky (class response)
In one of current events quizzes the Rowan county clerk Kim Davis was the subject of a question. I am very embarrassed that this woman is from Kentucky. To be so upset and stubborn about gay rights to disobey one of the constitutional rules of keeping church and state separate is terrible. The fact that Kentucky has the reputation of being fat hillbillies that are uneducated and then have a case like this is shameful. Kentucky is turning around with better education and health but then a story like this hurts our reputation. We have famous people like Diane Sawer and Jennifer Lawrence who represent us Kentuckians with class and well behavior and then we have people like Kim Davis who are inconsiderate and rude that don't think about others like the people asking for license or the judges telling her to do the job correctly. These cases need to end everywhere in the United States and not just in the state of Kentucky.
Newspaper Lifespan (class response)
Mr.Miller was recently doing a lecture on newspapers and said that this was a news medium that would never die. I find this very hard to believe. The news websites online provide better and easier accessible news then a news paper. For example I was walking around school and heard about something that happened and immediately got on my phone to check wha it was, 5 articles popped up talking about what how and why it happened that were posted an hour after the incident. The newspaper would take a whole day. The idea of sharing a newspaper is easier online too. The article you are reading is one tweet, text, or pin away from all your friends seeing it. As for tradition, my dad reads all of his papers on his ipad. With one app he access news papers from all of the world and has them translated so that he can read whichever one he likes. Online news is the present and the future and newspapers are dying.
Gutenberg Press Importance (class response)
Thought I agree that Gutenberg's printing press is very important to history and lead to many things we are lucky to have today I disagree that is the most important invention ever made. Though Gutenberg did it first the Asian nations were very close to doing the same design in a few years. I believe the internet is more important. The internet has effected us and changed everything we as humans live our lives. From doing work, to watching a video, and even writing a blog post it's hard to imagine a life without the internet. It's a truly original idea. The thought of the internet is hard to understand how they came up with it. An international medium connecting you to millions of book like screens called websites. This is a true original and innovative idea that pushed us farther faster than anyone could ever imagine.
Vegetable or Nah? (Media Critique)
BBC Earth writer Henry Nicholls wrote an article that was published September 17th about wether vegetables are real or not. This is an article that has no relevance or importance and no relation to the ten elements or the 7 yardsticks. It goes on and on about forums and researchers and concludes with the idea that botanically vegetables don't exist but culinary it does. This article, though it is well researched and has 2 opinions displayed evenly, is utterly disregarding journalism. When have you ever been walking around and heard 2 people arguing on wether or not vegetables are real? It just doesn't happen. This does not monitor anyone in power and government is used as a reference in the argument when they are talking about a supreme court case with tomatoes. Though this may be my fault for looking in the wrong place to be expecting more this is still a poor attempt on journalism because the need for this argument is just no where to be seen.

The Reason We're all Scared of Trump (class response)
Many Americans are scared of what Trump might do if he gets into office, but look at his supporters white supremacists and nazis. Is it not scary knowing that there are enough of these people who think that there is a supreme race to fill stadiums across the United States. These supporters are what makes Donald Trump so prominent and known because they put him on top of the early polls. As a young jewish teen I find it scary to think that these types of people are walking around the same streets I am. Donald Trump is doing the expected, hell he's been doing it for years so what changes now is that he has the power and support to do something about it. If elected these types of people will become our leaders and destroy what ever chance we had to create a more socialist type of country and government. In my opinion Bernie Sanders is the best candidate in the field. He understands what our generation wants and needs. He is the man who will sway the whole country so that we have equal rights and an economy where we give the lower classes the chance to move up and work and not keep them down there because we don't want to do the dirty work. Bernie Sanders is the candidate that speaks out for us. Bernie Sanders is the man who can speak for our generation.
